When I was Obsessed with Acting

There was a time, in high school, when I was obsessed with acting. I was convinced to become an actress. The reason why is because it felt very fun and natural to me. There was left-brain activity in memorizing lines and right-brain activity in acting as the character, bringing those lines to life. It was always a lot of fun for me in both of these ways. When I was into acting / theatre, I was into it all the way. I was going to be an actress as a career; I knew it would be a struggle, and I fully expected and was ready for that struggle. I did community theatre, where I was Mary from It’s a Wonderful Life and I was also in a student-run show inspired by Anne Frank. I truly enjoyed acting and doing theatre when I did do it. But then, there came a time when I didn’t do it anymore. I do think that it was a phase. I think a lot of people go through those kinds of phases, where they’re convinced they’re going to be a rockstar or something like that. For me, it was I was going to be an actress. Someday, when I’ll have my “permanent” full-time graphic design job, I might try doing some theatre again. But only after I’m settled into “adult” life.
