Don’t be Afraid to Dream Typography

This was a personal project I completed. I knew I wanted to do this overlay of text with a couple of fonts like this. I did some digging and searching for the particular font I was looking for, “Adelicia.” I also kept my mind open and considered other options, but the “Adelicia” font was essentially exactly what I wanted for the script portion of the text overlay. For the background portion of the text overlay, I wanted a simple, very legible font. I ended up going with one, “Butterfly World,” that was very legible but still had some personality in it. The bigger background text had to be less of an attention-grabbing color, so that the smaller script text in front could be seen as well. I decided to do a simple sky-like background for this piece utilizing ellipses. Then, I placed the text on the background, making the background text fully black, but with a low 20% opacity to keep it less attention-grabbing, but still legible. Plus, the transparency adds to the airy feel of the piece. Finally, I made the smaller, front script text a navy blue so it could be dark and properly legible but also contrast against the lighter color of the bigger text behind it.
