Annotations - An Old Art Project

This is an old art project that I completed called “Annotations.” I remember that this is from when I was in high school, but I’m bringing it up now because I was recently inspired by something similar in the sense of annotating. Click here to see my “Inspiration Blast” blog post explaining that. But right now, please take a look at this old art project of mine. I ended up doing this because, in a way, to me, annotations are beautiful. There’s something so satisfying about seeing a document or a photograph or an artwork annotated. I feel like it adds something special than if there were no annotations. It’s hard to explain, but I love annotations and annotating. I just feel it adds so much to comprehending whatever one’s reading or viewing, plus it’s beautiful.

My love and appreciation of annotations and the act of annotating itself might come from my love of typography. I love seeing a document laid out, it looks so nice, being all orderly and “perfect” with using a font. Then on top of that, it’s always fascinating seeing people’s handwriting; that in itself is beautiful as well. Everyone’s handwriting is unique, and that’s pretty amazing. Combine handwriting with a document in the form of annotations / annotating, and it’s a recipe for a beauty unique to me, it might as well be an art piece. So please see below my old art piece that I still enjoy, “Annotations.”
